As with the start of anything new a little testing is in order here... how does it feel to blog how do the words look on the page??
Great!
Now on! So here is where I will tell the story of my rally car build... discussions of pistons, con-rods and the air pump that is the engine... technical and also philosophically... why upgrade the rods and pistons but not so much something else? How I failed and how I didn't. What I've learned by my past experiences and talking to others.
pics and a real opening soon
I was thinking about this more, and it seems like the way to go is this:
ReplyDeleteDecide all of the upgrades and modifications that you want to make to the rally car and list them in order of mechanical and practical importance, THEN, circle the ones that would be the least likely to be damaged or destroyed during a routine racing event and that, if damaged, would end up being replaced with the stock or oem equivalent because you didn't want to pay for the upgrade again.
I think that the connecting rods should be somewhere near the top of this list, especially since:
a) it is an upgrade that you hear of all of the other Rally guys with TDIs doing,
b) you know of people already who have con rod issues, and it is affecting their engine performance
c) the most likely damage to a rally car would be a smash, which would not affect the engine, thus, you would not be replacing these every time you have an oopsie, and you can always salvage them and use them in another engine.
:) just my 2¢
OOPSIE
ReplyDelete* wouldn't !! I meant to say "WOULDN'T end up being replaced with the stock or oem equivalent because you didn't want to pay for the upgrade again"
heh heh
